Olivier Fischer, PhD, founded Cincinnati-based Ubelix to fill a market need for copy management, translation and localization capabilities within the packaging design industry. Olivier brings to Ubelix more than 20 years of experience in information systems and complex knowledge representation. He was one the co-founders of Planetfeedback, a company ultimately acquired by Nielsen BuzzMetrics. He has managed the design and technical aspects of Internet launches of major brands at Procter & Gamble, including Olay, Febreze, Swiffer, Jif, and Fixodent. Olivier has also taught system design and analysis, including data modeling using Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools at the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. In 2005 Dr. Fischer won an Emerging Technology Award from the Governor of the state of Ohio in 2005 ” recognizing his valuable progress in either advancing existing technologies or pursuing cutting-edge, emerging technological developments.” for the technologies now at the heart of Ubelix.
His doctoral research and dissertation were in the area of Artificial Intelligence, and were funded by the National Institute for Health(NIH), and The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Dr. Fischer is an inventor on 3 US patents: United States Patent 7,683,759 Patient identification system, United States Patent 20060253316 Consumer to business data capturing system, and United States Patent 8,245,136 Updating inserted text in a graphic file.
